First Look: Steambow Crossbows

Part air rifle, part crossbow, the Steambow Crossbow uses compressed air to power its bolts.
First Look: Steambow Crossbows

The Steambow Crossbow ($1,899-$1,999) combines the best aspects of the air rifle and crossbow all in one — the immense energy stored in a compressed air tank along with the high power and stealth of a crossbow.

The compressed air valve allows hunters to cock or de-cock the crossbow quickly and quietly, so it can be done right before the shot, which eliminates the risk of stalking or climbing with a cocked weapon. If compressed air is unavailable, the Steambow can still be cocked manually.

Two quick-release pins allow the Steambow’s limbs to be collapsed for storage and transport (below), then returned to the firing position in seconds.
