2022 Muzzy Classic Bowfishing Tournament Results

The 23rd Muzzy Classic Bowfishing Tournament presented in cooperation with Muddy Water Outdoors has concluded, and it was a blast! Even in the wake of historically high gas prices, slightly lower registration and typical uncertain summer weather, this year’s participants made the absolute most of their time on the water, and the payoff was huge!

Team NGA Bowfishing took top honors in the Big 20 (heaviest 20 fish) boating 429.45 pounds of fish to earn them $20,000 at the June 12 weight in. In a close second, team Heart of Dixie Bowfishing landed 408.10 pounds to secure $5,000, while team Out of Practice took home $2,500 and third place with a 387.80-pound haul. Rounding out the top 10 in the Big 20 competition were the following teams: 5 Star LED, Dirty Dinks, The Outsiders, Island Boys, LA Shooters, Blowing Money Southern Style, and Snatched Up Bowfishing.

Tim Gillingham Wins Again at Second Leg of IBO Triple Crown

Bowtech Senior Pro Tim Gillingham (below) proved once again that he’s one of the best shooters on the planet, this time clenching a win at the IBO Triple Crown in Franklin, Pennsylvania. This was the second leg of the IBO Triple Crown, and with a win in both the first and second leg, Gillingham looks to sweep the season if he can top the podium in the third leg. He will head to the final event of the IBO Triple Crown on July 21st in Nelsonville, Ohio.

“It took me till target 39 to take the lead going into the shoot-off,” Gillingham said. “My Reckoning 38 hammered two inside 12s and an 11 in the shoot-off for a come-from-behind win. I’ve won more with these Bowtech bows than all the others in my career combined! They are truly amazing!”

“Tim is just fun to watch, and we’re happy he’s a part of the Bowtech family,” said Jeff Suiter, director of marketing for Pure Archery Group. “Another come-from-behind win is no surprise from Tim. He’s so measured and consistent, and doesn’t let anything shake him. We’re excited to see him take the Triple Crown in Nelsonville.”

World Game Tickets Available Now

Since 1981, The World Games have been the premiere multi-sport international event for sports not contested in the Olympics — including compound and field archery.

The Games are usually held 1 year after the Summer Olympics, and are governed by the International World Games Association, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. This year, The World Games will come to the United States for the first time in more than 40 years. The last time the United States hosted the Games was their 1981 inauguration in California.

In 2022, Birmingham, Alabama, will host the event from July 7-17. The Games will feature some of the world’s best competitors in compound target archery, as well as recurve and barebow field archery, joining 3,600 athletes from more than 100 nations.

Top World Archery officials say that the compound event will be closely watched by the International Olympic Committee as it considers the possibility of including compound archery in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Top archery competitors including Sara Lopez of Colombia (above), Mike “Mr. Perfect” Schloesser of Netherlands, Abishek Verma of India, and 2021 World Champion Nico Wiener of Austria, will compete in compound, while Germany’s Olympic Medalist Lisa Unruh and her husband, top European recurve competitor, Florian Unruh, will compete in recurve field. Five-time world field champion, Erik Jonsson of Sweden, will be showing off his barebow field skills.

Tickets for attending the competition in Birmingham are available now at Ticketmaster, and direct links for discounted tickets can be found by clicking here.
