Chuck Adams Arrows His 200th Pope & Young Animal

Well-known bowhunter Chuck Adams recently arrowed his 198th, 199th and 200th Pope & Young (P&Y) record-class animals. He accomplished this latest trifecta with success on western game — a mule deer, pronghorn and finally No. 200, a trophy bull elk (photo below).

Adams’ archery resume goes back 53 years and includes accomplishing the world’s first Super Slam of North American Big Game. The Super Slam, a term he coined and trademarked, signifies taking every North American P&Y big game species with a bow and arrow. Adams was the first to accomplish the Super Slam in 1990. The quest for the Slam, and a continued prolific hunting schedule since, has allowed him to gather countless stories to inspire bowhunters by sharing the adventures in print and online.

Adams tagged these last three P&Y animals with Easton Full Metal Jacket arrows. When asked about his relationship with Easton Archery, Adams said, “I harvested my first deer 53 years ago at age 16 (photo above, top left) with an Easton 24SRTX bare shaft that I custom coated with green, non-glare primer since anodizing was not available back then. In fact, I have shot every animal in my archery life with Easton shafts from the SRTX aluminum, to Super Slam, and now Full Metal Jacket.”

According to Adams, his latest P&Y entries should score well into the record books and will be officially entered after Pope and Young’s mandatory 60-day drying period.


Vista Outdoor Brands Contribute to #GUNVOTE Campaign

NSSF, the trade association for the firearm industry, recently announced that Federal, CCI and SpeerAmmunition, which are all part of the Vista Outdoor family, recently contributed $100,000 to #GUNVOTE.

“Gun owners new and old need to make sure their voice is heard at the ballot box in order to protect the Second Amendment,” said Federal, CCI, Speer Ammunition President Jason Vanderbrink. “There are more than five million new first-time gun owners who already decided to jump off the fence and exercise their right to purchase and possess a firearm. NSSF’s #GUNVOTE campaign will help these Americans be more informed, engaged and confident in protecting their Constitutional rights as they head to the polls. We whole-heartedly support the #GUNVOTE effort and is proud to make this contribution toward success in November.”

Bushnell, another company within the Vista Outdoor family, also contributed $25,000 to NSSF’s #GUNVOTE voter registration, education and mobilization campaign.

Introducing Bowhunters United, a National Organization for Bowhunters

Bowhunters United (BU) is a national consumer-facing bowhunting organization launched on Oct. 1 with a goal of building a strong future for current and potential bowhunters. BU will also provide space for bowhunters to share their passion with other bowhunting enthusiasts, and encourage members to become mentors, informed conservationists, better bowhunting advocates and responsible public land stewards.

The archery/bowhunting industry and Archery Trade Association (ATA) are sponsoring the Bowhunters United liftoff, but plan to step back after the organization is established.

Consumers can join BU for $25.

Members will receive a window decal, vinyl sticker, membership gift and membership card. They’ll also have access to tools and knowledge to become better bowhunters, mentors, conservationists and stewards of our natural resources.

North Equity Acquires Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Other Bonnier Titles

North Equity, a digital media venture equity firm, has acquired a number of media brands from Bonnier Corporation. The acquisition includes Outdoor LifeField & Stream, Popular Science (all three are 100-plus-year-old publications) as well as other titles.
