Bryan Marcum — Retiring President
Bryan Marcum’s connection to the International Bowhunting Organization (IBO) began long before his presidency. A highly accomplished professional 3D archer, Marcum earned both national and world championship titles before bringing that experience and passion for the sport into organizational leadership.
During his 14 years as president, Marcum helped guide the IBO through growth and change while remaining committed to the organization’s foundation in bowhunting and 3D archery. His tenure included the continued development of the IBO National Triple Crown and World Championship, as well as a significant expansion of youth 3D archery opportunities.
Few individuals have experienced the IBO from as many perspectives as Marcum — professional competitor, national champion, world champion, IBO board member and president.
Marcum said, “It’s been an honor and a privilege to lead such a great organization. I have full confidence that Ryan Bass, the newly elected officers, and the board of directors will do a great job and continue our mission to promote, encourage, and foster the sport of bowhunting. As we turn the page to begin a new chapter, know that the IBO will be guided by the same core values that I have followed for the past 14 years: God, Family, and Country.”
The IBO sincerely thanks Marcum for his leadership, dedication and years of service. His contributions have helped shape the organization and created a strong foundation for its future.
Ryan Bass — Incoming President
Ryan Bass succeeds Marcum after 10 years as a member of the IBO leadership team, including service on the IBO board of directors, as vice president, and as director of the IBO 3D Challenge program.
A retired South Carolina Department of Natural Resources law enforcement officer, Bass spent 25 years in law enforcement and has a long history of involvement in youth shooting sports, particularly youth archery.
Through his work with the IBO 3D Challenge, Bass has worked with archers, coaches, schools, state programs, tournament hosts, sponsors and volunteers across the country while helping coordinate state, national and world-level events.
As vice president, Bass’s responsibilities expanded throughout the organization, working closely with Marcum, the board of directors, staff, state representatives, tournament hosts, sponsors and industry partners.
Ryan Bass said, “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as president of the IBO. Bryan has given 14 years of leadership to this organization, and I have been fortunate to work alongside him and learn from that experience. My goal is to build on the foundation that Bryan and those before us established while continuing to strengthen the IBO, support our members and bowhunters, and create opportunities for the next generation of archers.”
As Bass assumes the presidency, he looks forward to building upon the foundation established by Marcum and those who came before him while continuing to strengthen the IBO’s commitment to bowhunting, 3D archery, its members and the next generation of archers.
